The Estacada School District is seeking a pool of candidates for Special Education Generalists for the secondary level.

QUALIFICATIONS: Hold a valid Oregon Teaching License with a Special Education endorsement. Successful Special Education/Case Management teaching experience required.  Must have extensive knowledge of federal and state requirements governing the education of special needs students.  Must have experience in writing and reviewing student IEPs.  Meet the District minimum physical, basic skills, and/or health standards for the position.

 

CONTRACT & ASSIGNMENT LENGTH:  191-day probationary contract for 2018-2019 school year.   

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will coordinate with the Student Services Director, the Special Education team and building administrator to provide excellent educational opportunities for all students it serves. Must have strong understanding and proven record of successful IEP implementation and be consistent with the District mission and academic goals.

 

Works closely with staff and administration to develop each student’s annual academic and behavior goals. These goals will be consistent with the student’s current level of academic performance, current level of emotional and behavioral functioning, and any other area of need that the student has.


Completes required IDEA paperwork in specific time and manner for all students on his/her caseload. This includes all case manager duties of each student in the therapeutic behavior program.


Will work collectively with PLC teams to develop curriculum and common assessments that meet the requirements for core content area classes.


Designs and delivers specially designed instruction to students based on their needs and services listed in the IEP.


Works with specialists to ensure that each student is provided with the full range of needed services.


Writes progress notes, incident reports, attendance, and/or other required/requested documentation.


Demonstrates a good understanding of special education disabilities, and demonstrates an understanding of how to work with the individual needs of children based on evidence-based practices.

 

SALARY: Salary and placement will be in accordance with the District's salary schedule for licensed employees under the licensed union contract in accordance with provisions of the negotiated agreement.
